The Lymphatic System
The Lymphatic system is part of our immune system and it helps us to cope with infections. It is made up of a network of small vessels that transport lymph (a clear fluid that transports nutrients and waste) and lymph glands (nodes) that filter the lymph fluid. Other lymphatic tissues are tonsils, liver and spleen.
Main Functions
The lymphatic system has three main functions, to help us fight infection by identifying enemies, filtering and destroying the invading micro-organisms, distributing nutrients throughout. The waste products are then expelled from the body via the urinary system.
What are the benefits of MLD?
MLD has a complete calming effect on the mental and physical body, helping to reduce pain and creating an overall relaxed feeling. Stimulation of the lymphatics will cleanse waste material, reduce any swelling and strengthen the immune system. MLD can also assist with weight loss and detoxing.
